The Storms of My Life

Well, it has been a while since I last posted, so I thought I would share a little from my week. Being the selfish person that I try not to be, I think this past week is worth sharing. You may not agree.
On Sunday, we went to church. (For those of you that don't already know, we have been attending 5Point Fellowship, in Easley, for a couple of years now.) As usual, the pastor (Dean Herman) gave a very interesting, thought provoking sermon. It was on the storms in our lives. He said that he once heard someone say that every person is either in a storm in their lives, or is going into one or coming out of one. This is soooo true! Of course, I always feel that I am in a storm, but sometimes it is a light storm and sometimes it is a category 5 Hurricane! He spoke to us of not letting Jesus sleep through our storms as he was doing in the boat with his disciples in Mark 4:38-41. His disciples were fearful and finally woke Jesus up and he then calmed the storm. However, he also accused them of losing their faith. Dean told us to bring Jesus to our storms and allow him to calm it for us, in HIS time, not ours. This storm reminded me of a song by Scott Krippayne called "Sometimes He Calms the Storm". The key lyrics that I always remember say "sometimes He calms the storm, and other times He calms His child". I have always loved this song and have found myself singing it to myself during the week.
So, my storm got a little more intense on Thursday when my van died. It is a 1993 Nissan Quest. It hasn't had a/c for a few years. The fuel gage stays on full, forcing me to watch the miles. There is no visor on the driver side. The radio is in and out. A side window is duct taped on. The inside panel of the sliding door has to be held down for the door to open. It rattles constantly. And has over 216,ooo miles on it. But other than all that, it has been my trusty friend that has gotten my from point A to point B with out any worries at all. It never quit on me. I was only stranded when I had a couple of flat tires, which wasn't the van's fault. I honestly thought that I had another 50,000 miles to go on it. AT LEAST! (But hoping to be able to get something before next summer.) So, now I have to find something on a meager budget. I am depending on my mother to help me get to work until I am able to find something.
Later that evening, the boys and I took Frank's Explorer (which is on it's last legs also) to the place where the van was stranded. We were going to get any valuables out of it.Well about two miles down the road we got pulled over. Why? Because the front headlight was out. The problem here is that Frank had just changed the bulb two weeks earlier. Apparantly, there is a short somewhere. Isn't that lovely. Now we can't go anywhere at night until that is fixed or I get a new vehicle. Whichever comes first. ARGHHH!!!
Oh Yeah! And Thursday night, Brandon informed me that he had a project due the next day and he hadn't started on it!!!!
Please Lord, Calm My Storm! Or Calm Me-Really Quick!!!
